A JOURNEY JUST BEFORE CHRISTMAS

The approaching Christmas Jacob Ejdestaard and his friend , Eidis Tummas, were on their way to Sandø in order to preach the Gospel. First they went the long way over the mountain from the Andes Fjord to Selatrað on Østerø. From there they were carried the long way to Hvítanes on Strømø by a rowing boat. The night draw nearer, when they went ashore there. But they had another long trip to cover to reach Torshavn. They had to pass through very rough and impassable areas - with snow and ice-covered paths. And then the accident occurred: Jacob slipped on the ice, fell and could not come up again ...

They soon realized that one leg was broken. They were on a deserted stretch - in the middle of the dark night and with quite a distance to the nearest village. Apart from this it began to snow. The situation seemed hopeless and scary. What could they do?

- the only thing they could do was to continue the way, they both knew so very well: The prayer road. However, this time it was not empty phrases or dead theology. This they knew. Now the need was tangible and acute. They needed help from a living and real Savior! In this snowy night session Eidis Tummas bent his knees - at his helpless brother's side and began praying to God. Then he went over to him - and told him : "In the name of Jesus stand up and walk!"
- If anything happened? Oh, yes, certainly! Jacob rose immediately - and then, they continued their long march against Torshavn in the Faroe Islands. God in heaven had upheld his servants simple faith and confession. The healing miracle was a fact ...

As Jacoob and Eidis Tummas came to Tórshavn late at night, they sought the seamen's home to stay the night. But when they got there, they find the building closed and the door locked - of course. What should they do? Banging on the outside door at night would disturb the guests. It was not nice to shout or otherwise try to wake anyone. The two servants of the Lord came from a long journey - in the highest service - and now needed a little rest greatly ...

They then went straight towards the front door, pressed the latch down gently - and see: The door was open! They walked quietly in and found the manager in his bedroom on the 2nd floor. He woke up with a start - and was almost shocked to see us and wanted to know how we had entered. He had even locked the door himself for the night! They then answered him - as was true - that the door was open for them - when they came ...

The manager was visibly confused and uncomfortable and rushed down to the front door - which he even more puzzled saw properly closed and locked!

There was no human explanation for what happened. But the children of God rejoice! For the Lord and Master that led Peter out of captivity and opened the big prison gates - he is still the same for his servants today - for those who trust in him - in spirit and in truth!
Act. 12,3-10 His is the glory – alone!
